High levels of food insecurity and malnutrition are a persistent challenge for The Gambia and have worsened in the last ten years.
Every day, hundreds of children across our partner schools children across turn up for school hungry or simply do not go.
For all of them, having food at school can mean improved nutrition and health. It is also a strong incentive to send children to school, which in turn increases children’s access to education.
In 2019, over 100 students across 6 schools in the district benefited from daily meals sponsored by our organisation.
We will continue providing food or cash to all children attending our partner schools, prioritising vulnerable groups such as orphans or children with disabilities and those vulnerable to food insecurity.
